Who can hunt here

In the Green Area (the forested north and west) almost all land is Crown land. In the White Area (the settled south and east) most land is private; the Crown land you can use there is mostly under agricultural leases (shown in gold): contact the leaseholder before you go on, and they can set reasonable conditions. First Nations reserves and the Cold Lake range are not open. This is not a parcel-by-parcel ownership map: unleased Crown parcels in the White Area aren't shown, and Alberta's land titles search (SPIN 2) is the answer for any one parcel. Seasons and closures are in Alberta's hunting regulations.

Not on this map, and where it is

• Who holds a lease, and their access conditions: Alberta's Recreation Access Map, linked from its agricultural public land page
• Who owns any one parcel: Alberta's land titles search (SPIN 2); unleased Crown parcels in the White Area aren't on this map
• Partial cuts and the harvest planned next: The satellite sees cuts that take most of the canopy; thinnings and selection cuts mostly don't show. Alberta publishes each forest management unit's approved plan, with its harvest sequence
• Fire closures and restrictions: InciWeb lists current fires and the closure orders that go with them
